WF8002 Unique Metering Chip
The WF8002 is a specialized, high-performance metering chip designed specifically for use in smart water and gas meters. Housed in a compact QFN32 package (4x4mm), this chip offers a robust and accurate solution for flow measurement by detecting the rotation of a metal rotor.
Operating with minimal external RC components, the WF8002 connects to PCB coils to sense the movement of a metal sheet on the rotor. It converts the number of rotations into a reliable pulse output, with a stable sensing distance ranging from 4 to 10mm.
Key to its design is an embedded, mature anti-interference algorithm that ensures stable performance even in challenging environments. The chip supports the detection of both forward and reverse rotation, providing directional pulse output. It also includes intelligent alert features for metal sheet insertion and module separation.
With exceptional energy efficiency, the WF8002 consumes less than 3μA in slow sampling mode, making it ideal for battery-powered applications. Its detecting frequency is adjustable to suit a wide range of meter types, from residential to commercial. The chip is also designed for flexibility, supporting Open-CPU solutions with dense flow storage and is capable of embedding the EN13757 M-Bus standard protocol.
